Here are some of the steps that you should take to make your prototype a 5-star product.
Develop Your Business Plan
Having a business plan is one of the first places that you need to start. This is what you’ll be showing your investors and other interested parties. It may seem backwards, but your prototype is only a part of the equation. You have to be able to show people how you plan to market and manage your product. This is what will give them their confidence in your abilities. Even the best products can fail if there isn’t a solid plan in place.
Build Functional and Non-Functional Models
Design and build a functioning and non-functioning prototype. This is what you can show people in order to get your product off of the ground. The non-functioning prototype is something that you can take to meetings to gauge the level of interest.
If people are interested, show them the functioning prototype. They can see your product in action. The non-functioning product is more so that they can play with the different pieces and how they interact.
Use Quality Materials
Make sure to use quality materials for your prototypes. Higher quality materials will give a better impression of how the final product will look. It may be tempting to skimp out during the design phase. This can lead to potential investors and customers finding flaws with the design.
It’s much more impressive if you use a high quality material like advanced graphene materials or something of a similar nature. This shows that your design is made to last through frequent movements and interactive demonstrations.
Partner up to Generate Funds
Have a source of funds for your product. This may mean that you generate this revenue after you’ve complete your prototype. You may also want to consider partnering up with another business when you’re still in the design phase. This can eliminate some of the stress that you have with developing your product. It also gives you the advantage of instant brand recognition. This could mean that your product is more successful when it does go to market.
Many people think that designing a product is the hard part. The other aspects that go along with your prototype may play a bigger role in determining your success.
