Many employees are looking for a business environment they can fit in and feel appreciated by. This is often more important than salaries or even the ability to move up in the company hierarchy. Indeed, small gestures that prove that the company cares about the staff can get you a long way.


Most employees dread being stuck in the same job for years. Even if the job pays well and comes with advancement opportunities, it might get boring not having changed your interest for years.

In order to keep the employees interested and prevent them from moving on too often, a company can provide free courses that will help the workers expand their skills.

This can be done within the company in the form of a mentorship program, but you could also sponsor an actual education course that takes your employees beyond their comfort zone and prepares them for a new line of work.

Show appreciation

It’s important for the employees to see that their hard work is being noticed and appreciated. This should be done in a public way because the whole company should participate and be involved in creating a positive and motivational office environment.

One of the ways of doing this is to hand out monthly corporate awards that show how much you appreciate a particular worker and their contribution. The reward can also come with an actual bonus, just to show how much the person means to the management and the company in general.

More free time

One of the easiest and most rewarding ways to motivate your employees is to provide them with more paid free time. It can come in a form of a longer vacation or in a form of a long weekend every now and then, especially after a long and pressing task is done with.

Some companies also tend to have mandatory vacations for the entire company. Sometimes, they are even organized by the company itself, which makes it a great team building experience.

More responsibility

It may not seem like giving out more responsibility to your best employees is a reward, but it’s often seen as exactly that. The employees usually want their work to be more than just a job and pay check and they need to advance in terms of abilities and responsibilities. A good HR management will notice such employees and allow them to step up.

Start with asking the employee who needs the motivation to do more to participate in the decision making process. Talk to them about managerial tasks and use their input both to make decisions and to help them advance and find their way in a new role.

A good HR team must always try to find new ways to motivate the employees and to help them achieve their full potential. This is important for both the company and the employees themselves because it will make their career more productive and more meaningful.
